Ashli Powell, CD (DONA), CBE, LC | Lubbock Birth Doula

Ashli Powell is a wife and mother of three, a custom Lubbock cookie artist, and a self-proclaimed “birth junkie!”  Since early childhood, Ashli has always been exceedingly interested in the process of pregnancy and childbirth, as well as infant care.

After attending Coronado High School in Lubbock, TX and a semester at Texas Tech University, she moved to be with her husband in Tulsa, Oklahoma where they lived for five years and welcomed their two children.

During her first two pregnancies, Ashli realized her great love and knowledge of pregnancy and childbirth and started considering a career involving these things.  It was then during her first two unmedicated births that she also recognized the great importance of the amount and quality of support given to women in labor.  Later, while attending a friend’s birth, she became interested in the role of a birth doula.

After returning to Lubbock, Ashli was blessed with the opportunity to offer support to a childhood friend and her husband during this friend’s pregnancy, difficult labor, and delivery.  It was the very day of this friend’s delivery that Ashli realized her call to become a doula, and she answered the call the very same day!

Since answering the call of Lubbock Birth Doula, the drive to continue education and training in the field and to help women achieve the support and labor outcome they need and deserve has not dwindled, but instead has continued to grow every day!  Interest in childbirth education, breastfeeding education, and the role of Lubbock Postpartum Doula were soon to follow and they continue to root themselves deeper in her passion of the miracle of new life.

Ashli and her husband Chase welcomed their third edition to their growing family in July of 2007, after a difficult pregnancy and a wonderful 7-hour labor and birth. This was Ashli's third unmedicated birth and it reinforced the importance of labor support in a woman's birth experience all over again, as this was her first time to experience back labor. With the support of her mother, who acted as her doula, her husband, Chase, and mother-in-law, as well as the wonderfully caring nursing staff and doctors at University Medical Center, Ashli is able to recall this third labor and birth in her memory as a happy and exciting time, as well as proof of the importance of support during labor.

Ashli and her husband are also avid pro-life advocates.  She feels so blessed to be able to offer her services to women who find themselves in a  Lubbock crisis pregnancy situation and to help them through the most amazing and beautiful times in their lives.  If you would like to help these women in need, please contact Ashli through Birth by Design.
