As most women know, breastfeeding is beneficial to both mother and baby (reduces chances of breast cancer for mother, aids in baby's eye and brain development, promotes healthy bonding, supplies the proteins and supplements that are easiest for baby to digest and utilize, and even produces odorless bowel movements for baby!), but did you know that doulas support mothers in breastfeeding? Your Lubbock doula has been trained and has studied breastfeeding throughout her certification and career, and has even breastfed her own children. She knows and understands that breastfeeding is not easy in the beginning and understands that women need help immediately after the birth of their babies to help their baby latch-on properly and begin that bond that can be replaced by no other.
